Downtown Events Grant

Have an event in mind that will bring people together in our  downtown? Do you and other businesses want to work together to host a special event?

 

TDIA has a grant fund of $5,000 to support downtown events.

Grant Terms​: Funding up to $2,000 (not exceeding 50% of the event budget).

​

Eligible Activities: Examples include block parties, street fairs, festivals, car shows, celebrations, and workshops. 

 

Ineligible Activities:

  • Fundraisers.

  • Events requiring attendees to make a purchase.

  • Events solely promoting specific individuals or businesses.

​

Eligibility Criteria

 

Applicant Eligibility

  • Must be a member of the TDIA.

  • Individuals or organizations hosting events in the TDIA that align with grant goals.

​

Eligible Expenses

  • Permits and liability insurance.

  • Honoraria for volunteers.

  • Volunteer training and recognition.

  • Rental fees for venues.

  • Childminding expenses (if supplied for the event).

  • Equipment rentals.

  • Artist fees.

  • Event-related food, supplies, materials.

  • Security.

  • Advertising.

Marketing grant

The Marketing Grant supports initiatives that promote multiple businesses within the TDIA, fostering a vibrant and inclusive downtown through engaging marketing campaigns.

Grant Terms

  • Matching grant of up to $1,500 per campaign.

​

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Activities: Marketing that promotes three or more businesses within the TDIA.

  • Ineligible Activities: Marketing for fewer than three businesses or businesses outside the TDIA.

​

Applicant Eligibility

  • Must be a member of the TDIA.

  • Open to individuals or organizations hosting marketing initiatives within the TDIA.

Eligible Expenses

  • Advertising.

Ineligible Costs

  • Costs for ongoing programs/services or maintenance beyond the funding term.

  • Religious, partisan political activities, or additional funding for previously funded events.

Process

  1. Submit the completed web application 

  2. Applications are reviewed during the next TDIA board meeting.

  3. ​

Coordinator Responsibilities

  • Complete the application form.

  • Provide receipts or invoices post-campaign.

 

Note: Applications not meeting all criteria may still be considered.

Landscaping Grant 

The TDIA Landscaping Grant supports businesses enhancing the exterior appearance of their premises through measures like hanging baskets, planters, window boxes, pathway lining, and improved lighting.

 

Eligible applicants can receive matching grants of up to $1,000, subject to the total program budget of $5,000.

Eligible Expenses

  • Hanging baskets, pots, planters, and window boxes.

  • Lighting and pathway enhancements.

Grant Terms

  • Matching grant of up to $1,000 per applicant.

  • Applications remain open until the program budget is fully allocated.

Application Process

  1. Complete the web application form 

  2. Applications will be reviewed by the TDIA Board, and successful applicants will be notified.

HOLIDAY LIGHTS

Holiday Lights Grant – 2024 Funding Fully Subscribed 

 

The TDIA Downtown Holiday Lights Grant provides businesses with the opportunity to enhance the exterior of their buildings with festive holiday lighting.

 

This year’s funding has now been fully subscribed.​We encourage TDIA members to check back in 2025 for next year’s funding availability.​

Securing Small Business Rebate Program

$10.5 million Securing Small Business Rebate Program initiated by the Ministry of Jobs, Economic Development, and Innovation. 


Assisting small businesses in managing expenses for commercial property crime and vandalism repairs or implementing preventative measures. Two types of rebates are available, both retroactive from January 1, 2023, through December 31, 2024.​ Through BC Chamber of Commerce, the rebate program is a provincial network, comprising 100 chambers of commerce and industry partners such as Business Improvement Areas.​​​

The application portal is now open and will continue to accept submissions until January 31, 2025.For more detailed information contact the BC Chamber of Commerce at ssbr@bcchamber.org.
